Hunter is a very big fan of Frogs! Hunter has taken in a favorite stuff animal frog into surgery everytime with him except for once and that was his very first surgery at 5 days old.

Biography
Hunter was diagnosed with Shones Complex in his first year of life.
Shones Complex is a rare syndrome in which 4 severe heart defects are found in
the left side of the heart, these defects prevent blood from entering and
exiting the heart. Hunter was born with a total of 6 heart defects, with the
last one being diagnosed during one of his open-heart sugeries at the age of 7
months old. He has had a total of 9 heart sugeries and procedures so far, the
first taking place at 5 days old.
The most severe of Hunter's heart defects is his mitral valve, he has had it
ballooned, repaired, replaced with a mechanical valve, then re-replaced after a
clot formed and shut down his valve a month and half after surgery. Hunter
takes blood thinners daily which causes their own health issues. Since his
mitral valve is mechanical it does not grow with Hunter. Now that Hunter is 8
years old he is experiencing symptoms that tell the doctors it is time for a
bigger valve. Hunter will be undergoing additional non-invasive testing
locally. After all the data is collected he will be having a catherization for
testing and then open-heart surgery to re-replace his mitral valve at Boston
Children's Hospital.
Hunter has always proven to be a very brave, social & energetic boy. Many who
meet him don't even realize he has such a severe medical condition, unless they
spot his medic alert bracelet, notice his scars, or Hunter shares his stories
with them!

Update: Hunter had his 10th surgery on April 27th. He had his mechanical valve
replaced for a bigger size since he outgrew his baby valve. We are in high
hopes that this valve will last a while and limit future surgeries. In addition
to having his mechanical valve replaced Hunter also had his Aortic Valve
repaired with this surgery in hopes it will prolong the need for a replacement.
Originally, we were told Hunter would need the aortic valve replaced by the age
of 6 months! We are currently at Children's Hospital with Hunter recovering
from his surgery. We are in high hopes of going home soon, where he will
continue to recover and enjoy his life with his energetic spirit!
