Main Diagnosis - Mitochondrial Disorder Complex 1 and 3 and SCHA
Biography
Kateri is now three and a half years old and has led a very atypical
life. She has MItochondrial Disorder Complex 1 and 3 as well as a very rare
genetic disorder, SCHAD, which is also a disease of the mitochondrial. These
mitochondrial disorders effect both her muscle systems and her fatty acid
metabolism.
Kateri spent most of her first year on the hopsital stumping Dr. after Dr. She
is now GJ tube feed and has a port-a-cath, She gets IVIG infustions for her weak
immunesystem. She is on about 20 different medicines and requires Chest PT and
many other interventions.
Kateri is truly a miracle. SCHAD is an extremely rare disorder; around 90 people
in the world. Kateri is the worst case on record. Today her doctor told me that
the most severe cases are discoverd and diagnosed after infant death. Let me say
that again in case it didn't sink in, the most severe cases are discovered and
diagnosed after infant death..... except for the fact that Kateri is the worst
case on record....... the fact that she is stll alive and with us is truly a
miracle!

Once you find a pattern that you want to stitch and have confirmed it is not already being stitched you may return to the sign up form, fill it in and submit it.
