Biography
Kylie had a traumatic enterance to this world to say the least. She was born via emergency c-section. Her first Apgar as ZERO. She had gone without oxygen for quite a long time. She started having seizures as soon as they got her to breathe. Kylie was transferred to Children's Hospital to the NICU unit and placed on a cooling blanket to prevent any more brain damage. Kylie spent many weeks in the NICU--she was surrounded by God, her family and wonderful nurses and doctors.
Kylie is a happy girl, who just celebrated her 10th birthday this week. She has severe cerebral palsy--she cannot sit on her own and has trouble holding her head up on her own as well. She uses a wheelchair and her parents to get around. She also has epilepsy which for the most part is controlled by the use of three anti-seizure medications. One frustrating thing is she does not swallow properly and gets congested (and sick) easily. We have to deep suction her on an hourly (sometimes every 20 mins) basis. If you do not suction her her oxygen saturations go down and do not allow enough oxygen to get to her brain. She has to be monitored 100% of the time 7 days a week.
Kylie cannot communicate with words that a typical person would understand. She babbles and has some "kylie words" that we understand. She also cries, laughs, whines to get her point across.
Kylie is surrounded by love and it is the grace of God that she is still here. I believe it is to teach me (and others) unconditional love and tolerance.
Thank you for considering Kylie for a quilt. She loves to be snuggled up on someones lap with blankets. She likes the heaviness on her. I think it makes her feel safe and secure.

Once you find a pattern that you want to stitch and have confirmed it is not already being stitched you may return to the sign up form, fill it in and submit it.
