Biography

I can still remember the day Lola was born like it was yesterday!!
Her daddy and I were so excited. Lola was our first child, and we felt so
blessed to have such an amazing healthy baby girl! Lola lived the first 5 years
of her life like most little girls. She liked to play outside, go swimming, and
read books.
In October of 2011 our family moved to Tanzania Africa to be missionaries. Lola
LOVED it in Tanzania. It is a wonderful place for children to grow up. There is
plenty of room to run and play, and lots of kids around to play with. Lola
helped me to take care of orphan babies. She would often whisper into the ear of
the baby I was carrying for saying 'Jesus Loves you.' Lola is such a sweet
little girl.
A few months after we arrived in Tanzania Lola began to get sick. She was having
frequent fevers, her legs and arms hurt very bad and eventually her lymph nodes
were extremly swollen. We made the 3 day drive to the closest hospital in the
capital of Tanzania so Lola could be checked out by a Dr. We were told Lola had
mono. We had decided it would be best to take Lola back to the states so that
she could fully recover before returning to our home in Tanzania. We had not
known we would be going to the states, so we were very unprepared.
We arrived in Chicago on Feb. 11 in shorts and flip-flops. There was snow on the
ground in Chicago. Because our home was so far away from the capital, we did not
have a chance to return there to pack up any of our belongings. We also thought
Lola just had mono, so figured we would be returning to Tanzania soon. We left
everything we own there.
On Valentines day 2011 Lola received her diagnosis of Leukemia. She was
admitted to the hospital and started receiving chemo therapy.  In 1 short month
she has been put under multiple times to have various treatments done. She
receives many medications on a daily basis. Some of the medications affect her
mood and she is very sad. Lola used to be a very happy little girl who was full
of joy, but now she spends all her days on the couch, not able to do anything.
She has extreme stomach pain as well. It is truly heartbreaking to watch.  She
is such a sweet little girl, who has to go through something so hard!
