Peyton is four years old. From the day that she was born things for her have been a struggle. It has been a rocky road from low birth weight and jaundice, to breathing problems, frequent infections, motor delays, seizures, muscle weakness, dehydration, dysphagia, GI issues, and hypotonia. Today she is like most other kids her age, but has a lot of struggles that she faces daily. Her doctor's are currently beginning the process of testing her for mitochondrial disease, she is scheduled to see a mitochondrial disease specialist later this month. Peyton has been diagnosed with; hypotonic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, asthma, dysphagia, strabismus,slow GI motility, and connective tissue disease, to name a few. For her this means that most things are a daily struggle. She has to work harder to do most things that people take for granted. She fatigues easily, and often finds it difficult to play and keep up with her brother and sister. She uses bracing on her legs and often has to use a walker on bad days. She also has been struggling with seizures since March. She gets sick frequently and has trouble fighting off infections. Among the most popular are respiratory and infections of the urinary tract. Her struggles with eating and drinking have started to take thier toll. Peyton has a wonderful imagination. She loves to sing and dance. She is extremely theatrical and keeps us laughing. She is a typical girl and will certainly let you know if she has not gotten her way. She is extremely compassionate and loves to offer a helping hand.
