Biography

Shruthi was born in Chennai India and due to her multiple limb
deformities (legs on backwards, dislocated elbows and hips, deformed feet and
fingers), scoliosis of the spine, crossed eyes, hearing loss and cleft palate
her biological parents could not care for her and placed her in an orphanage.
The diagnosis that was given to her was the wrong one. She laid in an orphanage
for the first two years of her life before we found out about this precious
child. Shruthi was a promise child that no other adoptive family would even
consider due to her multiple health problems and who really needed a home. We
made the commentment to be Shruthi's parents in October 2008. Shruthi arrived
home March 2010 to her family, just short of 2 years from the time we made a
commentment to her. We knew about Shruthi's medical problems and fully accepted
her. Shruthi was taken to the orphanage March 10, 2006 and I arrived in India
March 10, 2010, exactly 4 years to the day. Shruthi is such
a loving child and we are glad God chose us to parent this beautiful baby. Her
adoption was completed here in the states and we are proud to call her our
daughter.
Upon arrival home we started taking Shruthi to the many medical specialists who
correctly diagnosed her with Larsen Syndrome, a syndrome that affects only 1 in
100,000 births world wide and has caused the many problems in Shruthi's tiny
body. Shruthi is 5 years old and only weighs 20 pounds and is 32 inches tall.
Shruthi, since March 2010 has undergone 6 surgeries. Both of her eyes to correct
cross eye or strabismus, both of her knees to correct the dislocations and both
feet to repair the deformities. She had cast changes every two weeks from July
until November 22 when the casts came off and the braces went on. She now wears
braces on her legs and is able to wear shoes, something a year ago was not
possible. Shruthi spends many long hours daily learning how to stand, how to use
her hands (they have deformities also) and is always ready to try her best.
Shruthi uses a wheelchair and is very good at getting where she wants to go.
Shruthi has a wonderful team of therapist who
work with Shruthi in order she reach her full potential. Our week is spent
going to therapy and visiting physicians. She has been through so much in such a
short time and still is always happy. She can make you smile on your worst days.
Shruthi is also severly developmentally delayed and even though she is 5 years
old her developmental is that of a 34 month old. Shruthi has to be carried like
an infant and can not do most things other kids can but it does not matter as
long as she is happy. Shruthi loves soft baby dolls and sleeps with 5 of them,
they are only around 14 inches tall and so snuggly. Shruthi loves animals and
other children.
We don't know what Shruthi's life holds but we do know that whatever and where
ever God takes this child she will do her best to be her best and we are right
there cheering her on. We are not worried about wheather or not Shruthi will
walk, run or be able to do things other kids do just that she have the best life
possible. We continue to trust God and the direction He has for Shruthi.
