Biography

Tiana was born a fighter, she was 2 months premature and weighed
only 2lbs 10oz. She came into this world breathing on her own and fought her way
to health by the time she was 2 1/2. Towards the end of her 2nd grade year I
started noticing signs of something not being right... she would forget how to
make letters of the alphabet and would randomly run fevers. She would go from no
fever to 103 in th blink of an eye. After several Dr. visits it was determined
that her tonsils were to blame and had them surgically removed. From there we
started noticing blood in her urine and took her back in, with no real
diagnosis. During that summer she began complaining of severe back pain and
sleeping a lot more than usual. Tiana has always been very active and
participated in cheerleading, basketball and softball as well as baton. One b
one she began not wanting to participate until the pain was severe enough that
she could no longer get out of bed. During that period we had her
to several Dr.s and even a chiropractor who all refused to take x-rays. Once I
demanded the x-ray it was found that she had 13 compression fractures in her
spine. After weeks of trying to prove that we were not abusing our daughter,
they finally tested her bone marrow. Her spine and entire pelvic region was
completely packed with cancerous solid tumor and the damage was very extensive.

The oncologist began chemo immediatly and determinded that the original tumor
was inoperable, she also went through 48 weeks of chemo and 28 straight
radiation treatments. They had her wear a hard shell brace for over a year to
assist her spine in healing and protect her spinal chord. The pain was almost
unbearable. In May of 2010 her final scans determined no evidence of disease and
Tiana was officially in remission...until less than 2 months later. Tiana found
a large lump on her rib cage so we rushed her in for a CT scan only to find that
the cancer had come back with a vengence. They found several tumors on her ribs,
on large tumor in each breast and several in her lungs. They chose not to test
her bone marrow as it didn't matter at that point. The Dr. gave us the option of
sending her home on hospice or opting for another year of chemo to help us buy
time. We opted for the chemo in hopes that something will be discovered that
will save our precious daughter. We have not
and will not lose hope or faith. God is very precious to us and with him and
through him we will get through this.
